What we collect, and what we do not.

The free tools

The AI crawler checker, buyer question builder, business schema generator and llms.txt generator run entirely in your browser. Nothing you type into them is sent to us or to anyone else: the only network request those pages make is the analytics tag described below, and it never sees what you type. There is no other call in them to send it with. Close the tab and it is gone.

The free scan

The scan needs one thing: the website address you want scanned. No email, no account, no card. We put your address to ChatGPT and to Gemini as part of asking the buyer questions, so those two companies see the questions and the address under their own terms.

Two records are kept, and it is worth separating them. On this website we keep the address scanned, the score, whether the result came from our cache, whether the scan succeeded, and a two-letter country code from Cloudflare. No IP address is stored there.

Our scanner, which is the system that actually asks the questions, keeps more: the full report and every answer the engines gave, including the eleven the free scan withholds, and your IP address. The IP is kept so that one person cannot drain the free scans everybody else is sharing. It is not currently deleted on a schedule, so it stays until we remove it. We would rather say that than claim we hold nothing. If you want your IP or a scan record removed, ask us and we will delete it.

Scan result pages are shareable by design, which means anyone with the address can see that scan, so treat the link as public.

The enquiry form

The form on the pricing page collects what you type: your email, and optionally your name, business name, website and message. It also records which of the four things you asked about, which page you sent it from, and a two-letter country code from Cloudflare. It does not record your IP address. If you arrive from a scan result it also carries the domain you scanned and the score you saw, so our reply can start from your actual number. We use it to answer you and to do the work if you buy something. We do not add you to a mailing list from this form, and we do not pass it to anyone else.

Analytics

These pages use Google Analytics 4 (property G-8K73FLYPHC) to count visits and see which pages get read. It sets cookies in your browser and sends Google information about your visit, including a trimmed version of your IP address, under Google's terms rather than ours. We look at it in aggregate. If you would rather not be counted, a content blocker or Google's own opt-out add-on will stop it, and the site works exactly the same either way.

We also count scans and enquiries on our own server, in our own database, because analytics beacons get blocked and we would rather know the real number. That server-side count holds no IP address and no cookie.

The badge

If you embed the Scanned by Answerable badge on your own site, your visitors' browsers fetch the image from us, which means our host sees those requests. If that matters to you, download the SVG and serve it from your own domain instead. It is yours to copy.

Email hello@answerable.com.au and ask. We will tell you what we hold about you, send you a copy, correct it, or delete it. There is no form to fill in and no fee. If you want a scan record removed, send the domain and the approximate date.

We keep enquiries for as long as we are working with you and for seven years afterwards, because Australian tax law expects business records to be kept that long. Scan records are kept so we can show change over time on the same site; ask and we will delete yours.
